우분투 차기버전에서 점차 알림영역을 사용하지 않는다

우분투 10.10에서는 그놈 전력 관리 애플릿을 대체할 전력에 관한 메뉴와, 네트워크 관리 애플릿 (nm-applet)을 대체할 네트워크 메뉴, 그놈 시계 애플릿을 대체할 시계 메뉴 혹은 시간과 날짜 메뉴를 도입할 계획입니다. 또한 사운드 메뉴를 확장하여 음악 재생기를 위한 알림 영역을 대체할 것입니다… 여기서 말하는 패턴은 모든 것이 메뉴화될 것이라는 것입니다… 우리의 로드맵은 지금으로부터 1년 뒤에 나올 우분투 11.04에서는 알림 영역이 없을 것이라는 겁니다.

패널을 한줄로 통합하겠다는 이야기가 아니라 notification area를 아예 없애버리는 대신 지금의 indicator-applet같은 구조로 가겠단 겁니다. NA의 아이콘들이 작동하는 방식이 다 제각각이다 보니 그런거곘죠. 개인적으론 나쁘지 않다 봅니다.

패널이야 원하는만큼 추가할 수가 있는데 저 얘기는 패널을 단지 한 줄로 한다는 뭐 그런 건 아니겠죠. ;)
